Butterflies: Common Blue Morpho

At the Butterfly Jungle exhibit at San Diego Wild Animal Park, one walks through a room filled with butterflies. These shots focus on the Common Blue Morpho, which is brown with spots on one side of its wings and a bright blue on the other (although when they rest it's generally with their wings up, so it's harder to get that side). Let's start with the one that landed on my shoulder.
And what's this on the window?
It's a Morpho. With the backlighting the pattern of both sides of the wings can be seen.

  1. What lovely photos! You're very good.

Monarchs taste bad because of the milkweed they ate as caterpillars. I just learned that recently.
